Privacy Policy

Effective: October 16, 2026 · Version 1.3

1. Who we are

TraceTile LLC ("TraceTile," "we," "us") runs tracetile.app and the TraceTile app, and is responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach us at support@tracetile.app.

2. What stays on your device

TraceTile works on your device. Your designs and projects, the images you add, your traces, your colors and your settings are stored in your browser's storage (IndexedDB and local storage) or in the app on your device. We never receive them, and we can't see them.

That storage is what lets the app keep your work. It isn't used to track you. Clearing your browser's data for tracetile.app deletes it.

3. What we collect

WhatWhere it comes fromWhy
Your first and last name, your email address, an account ID and your password, which we keep only as a one-way hash that no one can read backYou, when you create an account. To create your account, confirm your email with a code we send, connect your account to your license and let you reset your password
Billing details, only if you give them: country, ZIP or postal code, phone number, company name and VAT or tax IDYou, when you create an account. They're optionalTo fill in checkout for you, so Paddle can work out sales tax and issue business invoices, and to reach you about your order

Your order: order number, what you bought, the price, the date, your country and the email you usedPaddle, when you buy. We never see your card number. To give you your license and handle refunds and disputes
Your signed-in devices: a random device ID created by the app, a label such as "Chrome on Mac", when it was added, when it last checked in (every few minutes while TraceTile is open) and when another device took its placeThe app, when you sign in on a deviceTo keep your license to 2 devices at a time, and to show when an account is used beyond that
How your license is used: the days each signed-in device checks in and how often, each sign-in, and each export's time and kind (color mockup, cut template, laser cut lines or DXF). Never the file, the design or anything in itThe app, while you're signed in (it checks in before every export)To handle refunds and payment disputes with a record of use, and to spot shared accounts and free-trial abuse
A network ID: a code made with a secret key from the first part of your IP address, recorded with sign-ins, exports and free trials. We can't read your address back from itOur server, from the connectionTo spot many free trials started from one place, or one license used from many
Visits to this website: the page, the site that sent you, and your country, browser, operating system and kind of device, counted without cookies and without identifying youOur website host's analytics (Vercel Web Analytics), when you open a page of this website. Messages you send usYou, by emailTo answer you
Technical logs: IP address, browser, and the time and result of each requestOur hosting and sign-in providers, automaticallyTo keep the Service secure and working, and to look into account sharing and other license abuse

What we don't collect: your designs or images, what you draw or which tools you use, advertising IDs or your precise location. This website sets no cookies and runs no advertising code, and the app runs no analytics at all. When you're signed in, the app keeps a sign-in token on your device so you stay signed in.

4. How we use it

  • To run your account and license, including the device limit.
  • To process purchases, refunds and disputes with Paddle.
  • To answer you when you write to us.
  • To keep the Service secure and to prevent fraud and license abuse.
  • To keep the records that tax and accounting law requires.
  • To send emails about your account and license, such as receipts, security notices, changes to our terms, or the notice we'd send if TraceTile were to close. We send news or offers only if you've asked for them, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

If you're in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (your account and license), our legitimate interests (security and fraud prevention), legal obligations (tax records), and your consent (news emails, which you can withdraw at any time).

5. Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We share it only with:

  • Service providers that run parts of TraceTile for us under contract and may use the data only to do so: our account and database provider, our website host and our email provider.
  • Paddle, our reseller and merchant of record. Paddle processes your payment and handles tax, receipts and refunds as an independent company under its own privacy policy.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it, or when it's needed to protect someone's safety or our legal rights.
  • A buyer of our business, if TraceTile is ever sold or merged. This policy would keep protecting your information, and we'd tell you first.

6. Where it's kept

We're in the United States, and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. When we transfer personal information out of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we use the safeguards the law provides, such as standard contractual clauses.

7. How long we keep it

  • Account, license and device information: while your account exists. When you delete your account, we delete it within 30 days.
  • If we end an account for breaking our Terms: its email address, the reason and the records behind it, for up to 3 years, to keep it from signing up again and to handle any dispute about it.
  • The one-way hash of the email that started a free trial: after you delete your account too, so the same inbox can't start a second free trial. We can't read your address from it; we can only tell when the same address starts a trial again.
  • Order records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually up to 7 years.
  • Emails with us: up to 3 years after the conversation ends.
  • Technical logs: up to 90 days, unless we need them longer to investigate abuse.
  • How your license is used: while your account exists, and no longer than 2 years. Network IDs: 90 days.
  • Website visit counts: only as totals that don't identify anyone.

8. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct it;
  • delete it, along with your account; and
  • stop using it for a particular purpose, or withdraw consent you gave.

Email support@tracetile.app from the address on your account (that's how we confirm it's you). We'll answer within 30 days. You can have someone else make a request for you with your written permission. We'll never treat you differently for using these rights.

California and other US state privacy laws give you rights to know, delete and correct your information, and to opt out of its sale, of sharing for targeted advertising, and of profiling. We don't sell or share personal information, don't use it for targeted advertising or profiling, and don't collect sensitive personal information. We don't track you across websites, so there's nothing for Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals to switch off.

If you're in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your data protection authority.

9. Children

TraceTile isn't directed at children under 13, and accounts are for people 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.

10. Security

Everything between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit, access to our systems is limited to the people who need it, and we keep as little information as we can. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.

11. Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
